Tuesday, November 9, 2004 from 5 to 9 pm the Starkweather Art and Cultural Center (SACC), a non-profit art center located in the Village of Romeo, will open their doors with a special Preview Reception for the 5th Annual Holiday Art Extravaganza. A juried exhibit, the Holiday Art Extravaganza features over 90 outstanding artists in all mediums including glass, clay, raku and metal sculptures, jewelry, hand woven shawls and scarves, unique porcelain ornaments, wood tooled boxes, and more.
These represent just a few of the unique gifts to be found at the SACC's art extravaganza. Adding to the preview receptions' exclusive line-up of artists is the Gem & Diamond Specialists of Imlay City. For one night only they will present their originally designed jewelry featuring such rare and unusual gems as Ceylon sapphires, tourmalines and alexandrines. Other highlights of the evening include wonderful food, wine and special treats catered by Tasha of Romeo. Proceeds from the evenings' reception benefit the operation and restoration of the historic art center.
Advance tickets to the Holiday Art Extravaganza Preview Reception are now available: $15 for members and $20 for non-members ($25 admission price at the door). To purchase tickets please send a check or money order payable to: The Starkweather Society, P.O. Box 631, Romeo, Michigan 48065. Tickets can be mailed to you, or held at the door, please specify with your order. Arrangements may also be made by phone, (586) 752-5700. The purchase of an admission ticket automatically buys you one raffle ticket. You choose which raffle item or items you would like your ticket to be considered for, possibly an original painting or jewelry, a dinner for two or a basket of bounty. You can enter your ticket into one drawing, or buy enough tickets for all the raffle items. The number of raffle tickets you enter for each item is limitless! Please join us in bringing-in the holiday season in support of the arts!
The cause is great, the time is right and the evening is full of surprises for you to enjoy. The Holiday Art Extravaganza is sponsored by The Ford Motor Company Fund and Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep. Regular Holiday Art Extravaganza hours begin Wednesday, November 10 and run through December 22. Hours are 11 to 5pm Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 pm on Sunday. Admission is free.
