Local Art Guilds

Romeo Guild of Art

The RGA has been in existence for more than 50 years, and represents a diverse group of artists from beginners to seasoned professionals, in addition to art enthusiasts. The RGA meets monthly at Starkweather (Except for December). They gather on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, September through June, at 7pm.  The guild presents monthly demonstrators and speakers. Many  artists bring their work in progress for helpful critiques from their fellow members. The RGA also hosts the yearly Thumb Area Artists Exhibition at Starkweather Arts Center, taking place in September.  This juried show presents the very best work from our local artists. For more information on RGA or the TAAE, contact Don Clay at donaldhclay@yahoo.com or 586.477.0352

Washington Art Guild

The Washington Guild was established more than 10 years ago by Barbara Wolfe and Dolores Kurily, to learn about and appreciate art through guest presenters and workshops.  Members are from age 14 to 90, and their art styles are just as diverse.  However, not all members are artists, and some people join because they are interested in and appreciate art. Besides the opportunity to meet other people who share an interest in art, the guild offers opportunities to exhibit art in local businesses. This group is a small, friendly and informal gathering. Dues are only $20 per year, and meetings include coffee and snacks.  Guests are always welcome at no charge.

Meetings are usually the first Monday of the month, September through June, with occasional exceptions for holidays such as Labor Day and Election Day. Meetings are held at 7 PM at the Washington Twp. Hall, 57900 Van Dyke, North of 26 Mile (and North of the Octagon House).  The Guild website is http://washington-art-guild.homestead.com/
